#17 Charity Seminar
Posted on 2014/11/29
The other day, we held the CARPE DIEM Hiroo Charity Seminar. The president of the very popular BJJ Kimono Brand Vince “Bear” Quitugua and our own Instructor Masahiro Iwasaki together did a seminar on “Half Guard”.
The participants of the seminar paid 5000 yen each, in addition we also auctioned 4 hard to get Shoyoroll Kimonos. The proceeds of which were to be donated to the Kyoku-chan support fund.
Well, we had 42 people attend the seminar. On top of that 2 of the Kimonos went for 100,000 yen a piece. I think this was mainly because it was for charity. I really want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. The other 2 Kimonos went for 50,000 and 40,000 yen each. We also received some cash donations as well.
So these are the totals for the charity seminar:
I transferred the amount of ¥565,000 from our company account to the nominated “Kyoko-chan Support Fund”charity account today.
Kyoko Miwa, who lives in Matsudo was diagnosed with congestive cardio myopathy in September. She is currently on life support with a machine assisting her. But this is only a temporary measure and cannot last long.
In order to save her life, Kyoto needs to go to America to have a heart transplant. The amount of money required for this is enormous ( ¥170,000,000). There is no way that her family can afford the cost of this.
There are a lot of charities out there but because of my own personal story I support those which focus on “Children’s Illnesses”. Especially since I have some knowledge of heart disease, participants can explain about the illness in their own words.
Kyoko-chan, up until September, likes to dance and was quite a healthy little girl. Then suddenly, hospitalization and surgery. I’m sure it has been really tough on her. On Kyoko-chan’s Home Page, she talks about her future dreams. It seems she wants to be a cameraman. When I saw that I really felt for her. And soon after I approached 2 guys, Bear from SHOYOROLL and Masahiro Iwasaki to see if they could be instructors for this charity seminar.I was really happy that both of them readily agreed to help.
I am grateful to all of those who came to the seminar and I would like to thank you all once
