#9 Farewell Aki!
Posted on 2014/04/02
Aki will be finishing up at CARPE DIEM BJJ at the end of March. He really has it in his heart to go to America! In truth I kind of thought to myself, ”What are you thinking, Aki!” But now I am hoping he succeeds. The reason why is that I was like that myself when I was younger. Guys like us who watch Hollywood movies, listen to western music and wear jeans will grow up. Telling someone to not dream of America is a waste of time. I don’t know how he will deal with things like visa or money but I just want him to give it a go. “CARPE DIEM!” is our dojo’s name after all. I think everyone has to try and to the things they would like to do.
I told him that no matter what I want him to continue practicing BJJ. I am not really interested in the belt or belonging to a particular dojo, though I know that if he continues to practice Jiu-jitsu we are going to meet and train together again one day. I have known Aki for more than 10 years now. In that time I have asked him “What the heck are you saying?” many times. That being said though in all that time one thing that hasn’t changed is that when Aki is around it is fun.
I told him, “Don’t come to the Dojo even once from April. You have to focus on realizing your dream. There’s no point in being half hearted about it and thinking, ‘Of Course! I’ll keep teaching here.’” I’d like him to do his best to avoid coming back.
Perhaps we won’t see or meet him for 3 years or so. But I’ll be watching him on Facebook. Aki, do not block me! LOL
